Process
All of the illustrations were coded in Processing. The intent of the cover animation was to give the illusion of a single loop of ticker tape being twisted and tied into a knot. To achieve this I used an equation for a trefoil knot and generated four looped knots that interlock. While not actually a single strip, hopefully the illusion remains.
Once generated in Processing, I made position and rotation sliders to help arrange the knots individually in a composition. Although we settled on a very symmetrical solution, creating a makeshift layout tool helped with ideation and experimentation.
